Description from the amazon:
For too long Maxine Kiss has felt an inexplicable darkness inside her-a force she channels into hunting the demons bent on destroying the human race. But when she finds herself covered in blood and crouched beside her grandfather's dead body with no memory of what happened, Maxine begins to fear that the darkness has finally consumed her.
Zombie sighting: actually lots of them because the main character fights them - this variety are more like possessed beings instead of the single-minded brain lovers
It was my birthday, the anniversary of my mother's murder, and on the way to the party, I made a special point to stop and kill a zombie.

My two-bits:
In-a-word(s):
This tough fighting female caught my attention after she downed a 3rd hamburger in one sitting ;-D
As this was my first book to read from the series, I found it worked as a stand-alone just fine. Mostly because the main character has a bit of memory loss so as things are revealed to her so to, to us.
Lots of paranormal activity involving demons and otherworldly creatures run rampant. And, there are more to those tatts than meets the eye (on the book cover that is).
Find out about the tattoos here...
I enjoyed this book so much that I am going to read books 1 and 2 to get caught up.
