Giveaway: Between Two Ends

Between Two Ends
by David Ward
Just released: May 1, 2011

Description from the amazon:
When Yeats and his parents visit his grandmother's creepy old house, Yeats reunites a pair of pirate bookends and uncovers the amazing truth: Years ago, Yeats's father traveled into The Arabian Nights with a friend, and the friend, Shari, is still stuck in the tales.

Assisted by the not-always-trustworthy pirates, Yeats must navigate the unfamiliar world of the story of Shaharazad--dodging guards and tigers and the dangerous things that lurk in the margins of the stories--in order to save Shari and bring peace to his family.

It sounds excellent! I love stories in which characters travel into books. =D

I love the way he talks about the "voices" of his favourite authors and says that they live on in his mind although the authors themselves have fallen silent. Isn't that the whole power of books?

It was also nice to see him mention C.S. Lewis, Lloyd Alexander and J.R.R. Tolkien (or their characters) on the same page. Those authors share the same shelf in my bookcase--and with good reason!

We totally need more elementary teachers like him!

    Thanks for the giveaway. =)
