A Pride and Prejudice Adaptation
by Regina Jeffers
Published: 2009
Genre: Romance, Vampires
Paperback: 336 pages
Rating: 4
Description from the amazon:
Vampire Darcy's Desire presents Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice as a heart-pounding vampire romance filled with passion and danger. Tormented by a 200-year-old curse and his fate as a half-human/half-vampire dhampir, Mr. Darcy vows to live forever alone rather than inflict the horrors of life as a vampire on an innocent wife. But when he comes to Netherfield Park, he meets the captivating Elizabeth Bennet.
As a man, Darcy yearns for Elizabeth, but as a vampire, he is also driven to possess her. Uncontrollably drawn to each other, they are forced to confront a "pride and prejudice" never before imagined--while wrestling with the seductive power of forbidden love. Meanwhile, dark forces are at work all around them. Most ominous is the threat from George Wickham, the purveyor of the curse, a demon who vows to destroy each generation of Darcys.
Written in authentic Austen style and faithful to its Regency-era setting, Vampire Darcy's Desire retells the greatest love story of all time in a hauntingly
imaginative fashion.
Zombie sighting:
Elizabeth wondered how Darcy could sit in a church--could walk about during the day. Every tale she knew of werewolves and vampires and zombies rushed through her head.
- chapter 5, page 72
My two-bits:
In-a-word(s): vixen
This story has a good mix of gothic style, vampire angst and other paranormal elements that involve our favorite P&P characters.
I enjoyed reading some behind-the-scenes moments where Mr Darcy and Elizabeth share some passionate and intimate scenes.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in this endeavor. It was so great to have the opportunity to showcase my books and my website. I loved writing Darcy's Passions because it was the book that started it all. However, with Darcy's Temptation, I was forced to have Darcy find a way to love Elizabeth again after losing his memory. It was my way of saying that a person's true love will always find a way to the heart. Plus, DT was a Booksellers' Best Award Finalist in 2009.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Wentworth's Persuasion is written to allow a sequel, as is Vampire Darcy's Desire.
The Phantom of Pemberley, which took third in Romantic Suspense, in a recent contest, was great to write. Keeping the murderer's identity secret while planting clues was a great challenge.
Happy New Year and God Bless...
"The Phantom of Pemberley" seems very interesting!
