by Maggie Stiefvater - my review
Description from the amazon:
For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf--her wolf--is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without.
Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again.
Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human--or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

Aw, Shiver sounds good! Would you enter me, please? :-)
ReplyDeleteWerewolves? It would be nice in New York, like... In urban cities. Just like in The Mortal Instruments series... Its werewolves are awesome!
raila.soares(at)gmail(dot)com
I live in Michigan, and having been to northern Mi, I'm going to say northern Michigan and the U.P. It's a surreal enough place, with these huge towering trees and weird little black squirrels (and real wolves, of course), so they'd fit right in there.
ReplyDeleteI would most likely find werewolves where the real wolves are... in the woods behind my house!
ReplyDeleteCan you believe I still haven't read this!

Shiver? Yay. Please include me!
ReplyDeleteWerewolves? It would be nice if there are werewolves in school. At night. And they turned out to be members of a fraternity. Me and my imagination.
Thanks!

ReplyDeleteIn the paranormal world of your mind, what location would you find werewolves living?
ReplyDeleteIn the villages at the top of hills surrounded by woods.
Thank you sooo much for this giveaway!Shiver sounds AWESOME! Thank you for this chance!

Japan. At least, Asia of some kind. Seriously no one would suspect they are there and despite the heavily westernized cities, many parts of Asia are still 'traditional' so if they got themselves some weird habits, no one will really question it. Not to mention, there's mountain ranges they can disappear to, if they have that notion, that folks avoid for 'spiritual' or otherwise reasons.
ReplyDeleteAlso for some reason the thought of a Werewolf Samurai makes me crack up (Werewolf Samurai Tatsuya vs. Werewolf Ninja Yano! XD)

I'm not sure exactly where I'd find them living in my world but I like the synopsis of this book that they're normal people living in the woods as wolves some of their lives :)
ReplyDeletethebooksophisticate@hotmail.com
Don't enter me for this one as I've got it (and LOVE it!!) but did want to chime in to say that in MY (admittedly warped) paranormal imagination:
ReplyDeleteThe Black Forest of Germany! Descendants of the once famous clockmakers, an ancient bloodline toils at their craft by day - only to prowl the hidden forests at night. And, passed from son to son, are the special clocks made in secret. Clocks that mark the waning and waxing of the moon. (is this cheesey or what? lol)
I love werewolves! Please enter me in the contest.

In the paranormal world of your mind, what location would you find werewolves living? Somewhere near a park or forest, Chicago maybe.
ReplyDeletedekad1(at)hotmail(dot)com
Definitely Scotland. I don't know, there's just something mysterious and fantasy-like with all the rain and mist.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
kelsey

I would find them in snowy mountain trees in Russia
ReplyDeletebunnybx at gmail . com
In the corners of my werewolf mind I find love in Central Park...... so they must be living in New York City.

Scotland!

Werewolves would so totally live in regular society like humans but go out into nature when it was time to change. So, I'd expect less weres to be in NYC, since it would be harder to get to a "safe" place on full-moon & more to be in somewhere rural like Texas since there's lots of room for a larger population of werewolves to run.
ReplyDeleteambience.of.rain {at} gmail.com
The Texas Hill Country. Lots of room for hunting (and plenty of cattle) yet still close enough to civilization to go to town as humans.
ReplyDeleteIt's not very romantic sounding, but it makes a heck of lot more sense than an uber urban enviroment. I mean, where does a wolf fit in NY?
zombiegirrrl21 at aol
Cool contest, BTW. ;)
P.S. Thanks for the zombie fairie, I love her! Tell SVB that she's taken up residence in my jewelry tree and tries to bite my fingers off when I pick necklaces.
They're always in a dark forest so maybe East Texas/Western LA? There's lots of room and deer to eat (assuming these aren't people-eating werewolves, which would be semi-cannibalistic, y'know?).
ReplyDeletewhatinabox at gmail dot com
I live in Massachusetts, so I've always imagined werewolves to live in the western part of the state, in the forest covered mountains. However, I imagine most of them to be living in Colorado, Oregon, and the other thick forests of the west.
ReplyDeletexicecreamsjx@aol.com
I always imagine them in the Rocky Mountains, especially in the north like Montana - not very many people around and lots of room to roam.
ReplyDeletejen@delux.com
I think they would be found in the Smokey Mountains! tWarner419@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI would see werewolves living in the forests of Colorado.
ReplyDeleteSkk25@aol.com
I think it would be neat to find werewolves in New Orleans.

In the paranormal world of your mind, what location would you find werewolves living?
ReplyDeleteIn my town. It's small and we have a lot of trees and it's gorgeous here. I'm mean my town is called Forest for a reason. lol

Where would werewolves live? In the woods of course. juliecookies(at)gmail.com

I always imagine them living somewhere with lots of snow. Alaska.
ReplyDeletemagabygc AT gmail DOT com
What better place than Alaska?! And I see the person above me thought the same thing! I was thinking like 30 days of night. That would make things pretty dicey for the humans, but I guess there would have to be a full moon too for the werewolves.
ReplyDeletemiller4plusmore(at)bellsouth(dot)net
Werewolves would live in the jungles of costa rica.
ReplyDeletecaliblue7@gmail.com
Salem, Mass. Simply because it's now considered a witch haven and you wouldn't suspect a werewolf.
ReplyDeleteor
Arizona, living among the Apache and Nez Perce. Native Americans refer to werewolves as skinwalkers. I would love to read of a modern day skinwalker on the Reservations.
Thanks for the opportunity!Indigo
ravensquietscreams@gmail.com
I live near some very dark and mysterious woods - I could see the wolves prowling around in there *shiver*
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be entered to win! Email: thebookishtype [at] yahoo [dot] com

I think werewolves are from somewhere like in england. seems that most werewolf movies have english british accent. =)
ReplyDeletedarlyn225(at)gmail(dot)com
Ever since I was a kid, I've always imagined werewolves living in the local mountains around the foothills and haunting sleepless cities during the night.

You are so fun(ny)! Please enter me.
ReplyDeletekimbaldwin74@yahoo.com (queen bee)
On the streets of LVegas -- you see all kinds here, would blend right in. And as Missy stated, in a 24-hour town there would be plenty of action.
I would like to see werewolves in the NYC.
ReplyDeletelizzi0915 at aol dot com
Only heard great things about this book, would love to read it, please sign me up!
ReplyDeleteI would like to read about werewolves either in urban environment, big cities (NY, New Orleans, etc), or actually the suburbs of these cities where there are forests and fields so that they could roam there when in wolf form.
stelal.exlibris (at) gmail (dot) com
Thank you!
I tend to think of werewolves living in London and the English countryside. I'm not sure why. Maybe I just like the English accent :)
ReplyDeleteakaleistar (at) gmail (dot) com
I would have to say the Boundary Water Canoe Area between Minnesota and Canada. Hundred of thousands of acres with very few people and plenty of place to hid.
ReplyDeleteI would love to enter the contest.
fforgnayr@yahoo.com
The werewolves would be living in secret among us humans in modern society with their own laws :)

omg! i love shiver!! i think that the wolves would be living somewhere near the forest or woods so they can have a place to run around
ReplyDeletemariannguyen16(AT)gmail(DOT)com
In my head I would have to say that werewolves live in the deepest of suburban forests. Somewhere where there is possibly a ranch that's massive and reminds me of Elena's Pack in Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld Series.
ReplyDeletechicareader(at)gmail.com
Ooh...good contest AND good question! Let's see...in my mind, they would be in a forest but not supremely dark and creepy all of the time. No, my forest would have the best of both worlds....something to satisfy their dark side but also the light. Patches of sun would peek through the trees and create hidden glens... *imagines*
ReplyDeletegrgenius(at)gmail(dot)com
In my backyard of course. We live in a very wooded area in Vt...And with our love of all things Paranormal,Urban Fantasy..Its always a possibility that we are not alone..Thats what I think.and believe....Great Contest Thank you so much..Susan Vtc
ReplyDeleteI would think somewhere like Minnesota because it has lots of places to hide and plus I live there ; P
ReplyDeletecrazypplrok@gmail.com
In my mind wolves and werewolves originate in a snowy forested area. In modern times werewolves have become more urbanized but in towns witn access to a open area where they can have a good run.
ReplyDeleteAnd obviously with all that shaggy fur they're not going to choose somewhere hot. No werewolves in the Sahara.
eva.s.black[@]gmail[.]com
In my head, I would imagine that wolves live in the forest. It sounds cliche and unoriginal, but I just don't think they would make it in a suburban/city area. Because wolves are pack animals, they would live together in little communes. It would be exciting to be the next door neighbor to the commune. Then, you could be the cute girl next door with wolfishly-appealing male neighbors. :D
ReplyDeletekghobbs(at)gmail.com
Shiver, omg! I'd like to read
ReplyDeletePlease count me in!
In my mind the werewolf would live in a cold area, they would live in communities and are trying to adapt to modern life.
thanks in advance
