Sucker Punch is a 2011 action-fantasy thriller film about the fantasies of a young woman who is committed to a mental institution. It was written by Steve Shibuya and Zack Snyder, directed by Snyder and the cast includes Emily Browning as the central character, Babydoll.
... she fantasizes an adventure in feudal Japan, where she meets the Wise Man (Scott Glenn), who tells her that she can escape if she collects five items: a map, fire, a knife, a key and a fifth, unrevealed item that would require "great sacrifice".

Description from the amazon:
From Zack Snyder, the director of 300 and Watchmen, comes Sucker Punch; an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of Babydoll - a young girl, whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality.
Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, but her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary…with potentially tragic consequences.
In this official book, Snyder guides you through the many amazing worlds and characters of the film, with eye-popping production art and stunning photographs by Clay Enos (Watchmen: Portraits).

So that's what SP is about... Sound cool!
ReplyDeleteI'd seen teaser trailers on tv, but I was thoroughly confused. Thanks for posting this. It really does sound cool.
ReplyDeleteHave to check the book out.
ReplyDeleteYou know me and downloading... I got the movie and am going to burn it to disc. It looks phenomenal, but will let you know if you haven't seen it yet.
I've heard really mixed reviews for this. I still want to see it, but I think I'll wait until it's on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteI am totally gonna watch it, even if it sucks
ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty but I've read such bad reviews -- I'll probably wait until it's on DVD. Still - it looks pretty!
ReplyDeleteI went opening weekend and not gonna lie... it wasn't very good. Beautiful visually, interesting conceptually, awesome costuming and make-up, the fights were kick-ass... the story... absolutely lacking. I have to agree with the reviewer who said it was like watching an extremely high-budget music video because that is a really accurate description. One of my guy friends said he thought it was like being trapped inside the mind of a 16-year-old girl. lol Not quite sure I agree 100% on that but it's another way to describe it that's pretty fair.
ReplyDeleteAm I still gonna buy it on Bluray? Heck yes!
Probably won't see it 'til it's on dvd. But definitly gonna see it then if I don't get a chance before.
ReplyDeleteMovie looks interesting, but I've heard mixed reviews. Will wait till it comes out on DVD.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to watch it tonight! *_*
ReplyDeleteI really want to see this, but no one else I know wants to. I don't like going to movies by myself but I just might have to for this movie.
