Description from the amazon:
An edgy book for teens that spans the gap between YA and adult fiction. Life after high school is tough enough without having to go 15 rounds with your inner demon.
Val Shapiro is just your ordinary, part-demon, teenaged vampire hunter with a Texas drawl. And a pet hellhound named Fang. Soon enough she finds herself deep in the underbelly of the city, discovering the secrets of the Demon Underground and fighting to save those she loves. Whether they love her back or not.
Quote to note: reference to sword
Most martial arts took too long to master, so I didn't try to teach him any, though I recommended he find a class in the relatively unknown swords form of Tai Chi for the future. Not only were the long pointy things great to keep your distance from the undead, but they came in quite handy for lopping heads off.

fyi: Special 3-book review copy of this series is available at NetGalley - got mine, go get yours ;-D
My two-bits:
In-a-word(s): pizza
My first read with a half-demon for the lead character. I enjoyed learning about succubus and incubus - makes for unusual romance sessions.
I LOVED her hellhound sidekick, Fang. Snarky remarks with kick-butt action sets a fun reading tone.
Although more stakes than sword play, this vampire slayer book was a good start to the series. Looking forward to book 2.
