Blog HOP #269: vvb32 reads - welcome!

A Paranormal Romance
by David H. Burton
Three days before her twenty-fourth birthday, Katherine Gregory receives a letter from her deceased mother. It details a faery curse in which the eldest child in each generation will die in their twenty-fifth year.
Three days before her twenty-fourth birthday, a new love interest comes knocking, and her first love has returned - neither men are what they seem, and Katherine may have to choose between them.
Three days before her twenty-fourth birthday, Katherine must decide if this is all real, or if the strange visions she's been having are just a figment of her imagination.
The race to unravel the mystery begins, and Katherine must solve it – for any day after her birthday could be her last.

Midnight Cowgirl,
ReplyDeleteto answer your question, I was inspired to write this based on some actual events in my own family history. My great grandfather died in WWI as a Lead Stoker in the Royal Navy. He was 24 and left behind a pregnant widow. My grandfather died in WWII. He was also a Lead Stoker in the Royal Navy and died at the age of 24 leaving behind a pregnant widow. And even more strange, the battleships they had each died on had once seen battle together back in WWI - the very battle that my great-grandfather died in.
Based on that, I started thinking up an interesting story to go with this because it was so fascinating that both men had died at the same age under similar circumstances.
Broken was born from that. :)
The faery curse sounds so intriguing! I wonder if the curse is real and how Katherine is going to deal with it.
