Amanda Leigh excitedly put her ticket into her dress pocket.
Dear Eva, may I trouble you for one more? I'd like to invite my neighbor, Elizabeth, who most certainly is interested in learning more about the Society. Mary Ann asked as she carefully tucked her ticket and Leggs into her reticule.
Freda poured herself a fresh cup of tea. She did not reply right away if she required a ticket.
Freda took a sip of her tea and reached for her book. From inside the book, she pulled out a paper.
My associate, Darlyn, helped me compile this partial list. They are the names of MAPS members. These people have been quite an inconvenience in causing many delays to our various projects. Take a look. You may recognize some of them. We were able to capture these names from your beta MAPS filter.

Freda continued to say, We get names daily and some are aliases for the same persons. It is our hope to put a stop to their shenanigans before they interrupt and delay anymore of our projects.
Fellow associate, Kim, found her files tampered with by one of these nefarious members. She was able to deactivate her Lovelace device and clear it of MAPS traces before any harm was done.
Another associate, Regina, suggests that all Society members should install the special MAPS filter onto their Lovelace devices.
Eva looked at the list and passed it onto Amanda Leigh and Mary Ann.
Eva, We hope that you can have the final MAPS filter program ready for the upcoming Society meeting. I also have this item to give you from Christa.
Oy, Sullivan! Jade tried again to get Sullivan McPig's attention.
Jane rustled some nearby bushes with her parasol to see if Sullivan would be roused.
Sullivan McPig was not one to cater to humans. Except of course when it came to his owner. He also was on a mission. When truffles were near there was nothing that could interrupt his search... except for...
Oy, McPig? Have you heard of the new zombie book? Jade enquired.
Sullivan raised his head. Zombie book?
Aye, we heard it from Book Chick City, 'tis coming September 2010 and 'tis called, Rot & Ruin by John Maberry.

Walking up the path is Sullivan's owner and Celia.

ReplyDeleteIt is always nice to see a new twist on giveaways.
The last steampunk I read was Boneshaker by Cherie Priest and I enjoyed it very much although somepeople say it is not really steampunk.

I'm studying this list hard, and when I find the double agents..... let's just say I won't be alone. (I'll have my girls with me!)
ReplyDeleteC'mon ladies, we can do it! After this tea though, it is delicious!
Oh and yes I need my ticket... where can it be?? ;-)
ReplyDeleteMary Ann accepted the list with a cursory glance, then did a double take! She sucked in her breath and raised a trembling hand to smooth a wayward curl, hoping her discomforture had gone unnoticed. My word, it seemed as if her secret beau (undeclared yet nonetheless ardent)was a MAPS agent...
ReplyDeleteHis treacherous heart would be dealt with. As a Society member in good standing, Mary Ann held duty in high esteem. Love, at least in this case, must take a second seat.
She sighed aloud.
And waited to hear what Freda and the others had in mind...
:D
Great post! I would love a ticket :)

Amanda Leigh watched the others as the looked over the list. Noting their reactions with only the slightest tightening of her eyes. She then looked over the list prepared to give no reaction no matter what names she saw.
ReplyDeleteI would love a ticket , this ride sounds exciting.
