Here is an item I came across for picnics:
ReplyDeleteWalnut Sandwiches.
Mix together equal quantities of chopped walnuts and gruyere cheese, season with pepper, salt and mustard and form into sandwiches with thinly cut bread and butter: stamp into rounds and sprinkle with paprika and cheese finely grated and garnish with parsley.
For activities I would think "Blind Mans Bluff" would be the ideal.

Ohhh, I would love to win a copy of Emma.
ReplyDeleteA definite for me would be fried chicken with homemade macaroni salad. And for desert a nice light sugar cookie. Mmm, now I'm hungry.
The game I would play at my picnic would be bocce ball. That's a family favorite of ours.

Oh, sounds so cute! I love Mr. Knightly. And I actually own my own copy of Emma, so please don't enter me in this contest. :)
ReplyDeleteYay, another Austen gathering ! Count me in, although like last time I will be participating in the picnic when you're all asleep, because of the time difference. :)
ReplyDeleteI already have Emma, so I'm not entering the giveaway.
I would be delighted to participate to the event like I did during the Pemberley Ball (with recipes or anything else you'd like). If you're interested, pop me an email. :)
Thanks for the awesome things happening on your blog, you're awesome !
Dont count me in for winning the book!!
ReplyDeleteAs many already know, I adore Emma and Mr.Knightley.They are my favourite couple EVER!!
Mus have Item to place in the picnic basket is for sure: strawberries (Yes, I know we can pick them up at Mr. Knigtley's) and just allot of sweet stuff, like chocolate, cookies and whine... A nice sweet white wine.
Oooh, I want to be invited!!!
I would love to be entered in your draw. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely put a small bottle of wine in my picnic basket.
I like reading a good book in the sunshine when on a picnic.

OH, this picnic sounds great!
ReplyDeleteWell, I hardly never have planned picnics, we just hang around and then decide to go somewhere and sit and eat. But my favorite thing to buy to those is frest strawberries from the marketplace. And then some cold soda. We normally just talk and stuff. Last time we played something I think it was spin a bottle we played since it is super fun with friends. :)
I wouldn't forget my fan and parasol of course!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to play riddles and word games.
I'm going to post a ling on my sidebar.
Thanks for the invitation!
(I'd love to win your gently used copy of Emma and bring it with me to the picnic!)

ling=link!!!
ReplyDeleteI would bring fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits, and chocolate cake. As for games, I find croquet quite diverting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I saw the link on Fly High and couldn't resist learning more. I already have four copies of Emma, so please don't include me in the giveaway, though for such a picnic I think cucumber sandwiches are a must and any intrusive entertainments contrived by Frank Churchill will be perfectly delightful to participate in.
ReplyDelete*swoon*
ReplyDeleteI love Johnny Lee Miller!
Thanks for visiting my blog.
I just love your header!
All hail Victorian :)
I'll be at work, but will try to make this event. What fun! :)
ReplyDelete~S.
I would love to attend . . . and shall launder and press my best sprigged muslin!
ReplyDeleteI'm late (as always) due to pc problems (still happening here) but I already own the book so that's no problem.
ReplyDeleteReading it before the picnic will be a "problem" though ;o) LOL

I would love to attend the picnic (as far as time difference and my pc allowes) and learn more.

A picnic sounds absolutely lovely, and hosted by Mr. Knightley, what could be better? Count me in!!!
ReplyDeleteNo need to enter me in the giveaway as I am already a happy owner of Emma. My must have item is homemade strawberry lemonade!
I'm not forgetting the picnic and I *will* catch up in my reading, very soon I hope!
