Titania's Darcy

Bingley scanned the crowd for his friend Darcy. He was worried that Darcy had gone off by himself and was stubbornly resisting fun as usual.

“Why couldn’t he just dance and converse with the others a little?” Bingley wondered out loud. He left the ballroom, determined to explore the rest of the property in search of his friend.

Fitzwilliam Darcy was actually still in the ballroom, slightly hidden from view. Behind the refreshment table, he was crouched over something on the floor.

No one paid him any mind, instead absorbed by the festivities, except for Edward. He was one of the many servants making the event run smoothly and he spotted Darcy from across the room. He briskly walked to him, leaned over, and said quietly, “Is there a problem, Mr. Darcy?”

He was about to ask if he knew that Mr. Bingley was looking for him, but the words caught in his throat as Darcy looked up at him.

Darcy was a vision of horror with a glazed, empty look in his eyes and a savagely red smeared mouth. The skin on his face was patchy in places, letting the white bone show through.

Blood and bits of meat fell from his mouth and down his tattered suit. Edward tore his eyes away from this monster and recoiled at the sight of Charlotte Lucas’s body laying prone under Darcy. Her abdomen was torn open, her viscera and blood spilling around her, dying her lovely white dress red. Her face was twisted and frozen into a death mask of pure terror.

Edward turned away and violently vomited, attracting the attention of the entire party. Absolutely everyone was now staring in his direction, but the monster was still hidden from view. He wiped his mouth and stood up, only to find himself face to face with Darcy. He trembled with fear and froze, hoping that something else would attract the thing’s attention.

Darcy leaned in and tore out his throat. Arterial blood sprayed everyone within a few feet. As Edward fell to the ground, he grabbed at his assailant, causing most of the rotted skin on Darcy’s arms to slough off on the ground in a putrid pile of mush.

A previously peaceful party turned into utter chaos. Everyone either ran or fainted. There was no order to any of it, causing people to shove each other and knock each other down in an effort to get away.

After snacking a bit on Edward, Darcy slowly stood and seemed to survey the room. He slowly shuffled towards the mass of panicking people.
