Zombies in July

The First Days
by Rhiannon Frater

Rhiannon Frater's As the World Dies trilogy is an internet sensation. The first two books, The First Days and Fighting to Survive, have won the Dead Letter Award for Best Novel from Mail Order Zombie. The First Days was named one of the Best Zombie Books of the Decade by the Harrisburg Book Examiner. AmericanHorrorBlog calls Rhiannon Frater "a writer to watch."

The morning that the world ends, Katie is getting ready for court and housewife Jenni is taking care of her family. Less than two hours later, they are fleeing for their lives from a zombie horde.

Thrown together by circumstance, Jenni and Katie become a powerful zombie-killing partnership, mowing down zombies as they rescue Jenni's stepson, Jason, from an infected campground.

They find sanctuary in a tiny, roughly fortified Texas town. There Jenni and Katie find they are both attracted to Travis, leader of the survivors; and the refugees must slaughter people they know, who have returned in zombie form.

Fast-paced and exciting, filled with characters who grab your heart, The First Days: As the World Dies is the beginning of a frightening trilogy.

  2. Yes yes Zombies! I'm currently stocking my zombie shelf the past month. It only needs about three more books and it will be a whole shelf just full of zombie books. I just recently finished Allison Hewitt is Trapped by Madeleine Roux - WONDERFUL.

I liked Rhiannon's site (especially liked the twitter graphic link - even though I hate twitter).

My favorite part though - is the FREE FICTION! section - I love when authors do this!

    toodles!

  9. My best friend has this trilogy in the self-published form and I've been devouring them. I'm looking forward to reading them again in their newly published form. I like that Frater has a link in the FAQ page to some short stories involving characters in the trilogy.

  11. I've added this to the zombie books i want to read list! From her site, I found that Rhiannon independently produced her first book and gained a cult following.

  12. I have been hearing a lot about this book. The interesting thing I found was that unlike what I had assumed, this is not the author's debut novel. She has written three other books: 2 vampire novels and one zombie one.
