rrRoad Trip: Teapot Dome Gas Station

Teapot Dome Gas Station
Zillah, Washington

This pot, though smaller than most, always looks good in calendar photos and postcards. It's off I-82 about 15 miles southeast of Yakima. It may have been the oldest operating gas station in the US before it stopped operating in 2003.

The 15-ft. building was created in 1922 by Jack Ainsworth as a political statement memorializing the Harding Teapot Dome scandal. -per Roadside America

Happy Birthday to Me
by Brian Rowe

Seventeen-year-old Cameron Martin has a huge problem: he’s aging a whole year of his life with each passing day. High school is hard enough; imagine rapidly aging from seventeen to seventy in a matter of weeks, with no logical explanation, and with prom, graduation, and the state championship basketball game on the horizon.

That’s what happens to Cameron, a mischievous pretty boy who has never had to face a day looking anything but perfect. It starts with a slowing metabolism, followed by gray hair, wrinkles, and heart palpitations. Within days his girlfriend dumps him, his plastic surgeon father forces him to get a facelift, and his terrifying high school librarian seduces him to have sex with her. All he wants to do is go back to normal, but no one, not even the best doctors, can diagnose his condition.

When he finds love with a young woman who may or may not be an all-powerful witch, he realizes that the only hope for his survival might be with the one person who instigated his condition in the first place...

  1. That's a cool looking gas station! :D
I've been seeing this book on a lot of blogs lately. It has an interesting premise!

  2. Oh, WOW! - that is one sweet gas station! The history behind it is pretty interesting, too. Very creative way to express one's politico lol

  3. The book sounds really interesting. Definitely going on my wish list. I watched "Best Served Cold" Loved the opening quote. Both girls are definitely crazy. But I think Emily deserved what happened to her more than Vanessa. But why would you take anything from someone who just pushed you into a wall and seemed quite all right with having to kill you if it meant that you were out of their life? Definitly creepy though.

  4. I watched 'Best Served Cold' and I really like the opening quote that said "Do I believe in ghosts? No, but I am afraid of them." by Marquise du Deffand.

  5. I really like "Best Served Cold". Ghosts. What more do I need to say :P

  6. Sounds a little too much like Beastly to me...
