Project Peepway

Peeps®!

By Charity Ferreira
Photographs by Liz Wolfe

Description from publisher's site:
Peeps®! -- For Peeps sake! They're cute. They're tasty. And for the first time ever, PEEPS—the No. 1 selling non-chocolate Easter candy—take center stage in fun crafts and sweet treats for the entire family. Both seasonal savorers and devoted PEEPS fans (who have created over 200 dedicated fan Web sites) will delight in these 24 projects, surprisingly suited for any time of the year.

Frosty Peepsicles refresh on a hot summer day; the Peeps Holiday Wreath brightens up a winter doorway; and the PeepiƱata enlivens any fiesta. Cheerful, mouthwatering photographs inspire while simple step-by-step instructions explain the how-to. Games, decorations, and desserts never looked so adorably edible!

While I'm not a fan of eating Peeps, the creativity that comes out with using Peeps for art or explosions in the microwave for sport amuse me.

Had to share this video that was created as a book trailer of sorts for the Peeps book:

I agree with who was selected as the winner of the challenge.

Feathers really add to an ensemble ;-D

Whimsical Fabric Created on Project Runway

I gotta give props to one of my guilty pleasures - Project Runway. Last year I highlighted a vampire steampunk number created by Christopher Straub.

Now, at the tail-end of season 7, I've come across an outfit that wow-ed me that I just have to share. It was not the winning piece but made it to the judges' top 3.

The challenge was to create a design which would be made into fabric. Then, using the fabric make a signature piece.

The image above is the fabric design used for the outfit below. Seth mentioned something about it being punk rock meets London. I love it. You can see a face with big blue eyes, lips and blonde hair. If they sold the fabric, I definitely would buy it and make a tote bag for my book shopping sprees.

Have you been watching the show this season?

If so, which outfit has wow-ed you?

Vampire Inspired Dress on Project Runway

While watching Project Runway's season 6 episode 6, Lights, Camera, Sew! I was treated to a vampire inspired dress. The challenge was to create a costume inspired by a movie genre.

Designer, Christopher Straub, selected genre Period piece and created a Victorian vampire wedding dress. Katie Sticksel was the model for this fabulous dress that I adored. It had the romantic and Victorian look. I think it did the job in expressing his vision. All that was needed were a flash of fangs.

This dress got me thinking of the upcoming Victorian vampire novel, Soulless by Gail Carriger out on September 29, 2009.

Blurb from author site:

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she is being rudely attacked by a vampire to whom she has not been properly introduced!

Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire, and the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate. With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible.

Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?

I want this book! ;-D

Got it. -my review

Waiting on Wednesday - 11

I'm waiting for...

Project Runway
Season 6

Release date: August 20, 2009

I am not a fashion maven or clothes shopping expert. I'm just a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal. However, this clothing designer show, Project Runway, is the one reality tv show that is my guilty pleasure to watch. I'm a fan of this TV series and have been watching since the start. My favorite season to date is Season One with winner Jay McCarroll. I love to watch the fashion pieces that come out of this show. They are so amazing and creative. I also like to see how the designers grow from the experience of sewing and designing under pressure.

Bonus: Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn rock!

Favorite Tim Gunn quote: Make it work.

I'm going to pull out a book from my tbr pile.

Bohemian Manifesto: A Field Guide to Living on the Edge
by Laren Stoverwith
illustrations by Izak

Description from amazon.com:
Bohemianism is a way of life, a state of mind, an atmosphere. It is not a trend, its a timeless movement. It is about living beyond convention. BOHEMIAN MANIFESTO explores and joyfully celebrates the creativity, the originality, and the splendor of a lifestyle and spirit shared by free-thinking, free-living artists, poets, writers, sculptors, musicians, and intellectuals. This is the first book to distill and categorize all the ingredients of Bohemian life. In a witty and engaging style, Laren Stover examines the contents of a Bohemians closet, bathroom, and bookshelf. She explains the allure of absinthe, why it isnt wise to leave a Bohemian unattended in your home--you could return to find nude nymphs painted on your lamp shades--and how to identify what type of Bohemian you might be.

Take a peek at some of the beautiful illustrations at the book site which is what drew me to purchasing the book.
