My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.
=====> Listened to the audio version. Found this to be a little more than the usual bubble boy kind of story. Uplifting story that brings about appreciation of the details of life.
OTHER things on my shelf: kinda book-related

AND binge watching:
=====> I watched the season premiere of season 2 of The Affair at a local theatre last Tuesday as I was offered a free viewing. To prepare for the event, I watched the first episode of from the first season to get an idea of what I was in for as it was new to me.
The episode one for season two was just as intrigueing as episode one for season one! I did not feel spoiled - just more curious!
The storytelling is innovative using different character perspectives on same scenes with flashbacks to provide details that fleshes out a scene in eye-opening ways. The different character versions of a scene overall creates unreliable sources to me. So I keep wondering what is the real deal?
And now, I am going to binge season one to get caught up!
tv series, season one
-drama, mystery

ReplyDeleteI posted a whole thing about The Affair. I like the show, but I was disappointed to find out that the mystery wasn't going to be solved at the end of the first season. It is certainly worth watching with a magnificent cast. Hope you love all your new reads!
ReplyDeleteYour new books look great! I have Everything Everything, too, I just need to sit down and read it :)
