Arhen-Kosho (ahr·hen·koh·shoh)
Following the breakup of the Yadoshan kingdom, their defeated royalty were exiled to the island now known as Arhen-Kosho, inadvertently making the current rulers of this kingdom the oldest hereditary monarchy in the world. Living on an island has made Arhen-Koshons excellent seafarers, and it is known for its ships and expert sailors. Their control over trade routes and their strategic position makes them one of the richest kingdoms in the land, and they enjoy close alliances with many of the other nations, the Yadosha city-states and Odalia in particular. Currently ruled by Queen Lynoria of House Imperial, it is also notable for having the most number of runic magic-users after Kion, most of whom would go on to become asha in the latter.

My two-bits:

Awesome spooky creepy story to start off the Halloween season!

The character perspectives of the living and non-living played off each other well. Loved learning of the folklore of ghosts and in particular Japanese ghosts. Certain ghosts didn't seem so scary after learning about their history. Also, tidbits about Japanese dolls was eye-opening.

Although the story is primarily about the girl in the well, it also is one that revolves around a boy with a tattoo - an unusual one with interesting meaning and movement (yeah, huh?). The air of dark mystery that surrounds the boy kept me turning the pages which reached a satisfying reveal.
