Seeking Narwal: Iron Seas

Seeking Narwal
a monthly saga
posted on the 7th of each month - until the narwal is found
details here

~*~

The search continues for the narwal and stolen treasure...

On the night of the New Moon, the Lady Anne slipped through a portal in the Caspian Sea to enter the Iron Seas. Aboard this vessel was our infamous Narwal.

He now sits in a pub, the Compass Rose (noted in Here There Be Monsters by Meljean Brook), sipping a third mug of mead.

He waits with the gem.

He waits for nightfall.

He waits for the crowd to become boisterous.

He waits for the hooded one to emerge when least expected.

He is a patient one.

~*~

Meanwhile, the Rusty Dagger docks in a nearby location.

She has sailed the seven seas in search of the Narwal to no avail.

BUT, today.

Our Capt Vix has finally arrived.

Due to the chill in the air, she dons her cloak. She pulls her hood over her face before heading to the nearest pub.

Seeking Narwal: Seventh Sea

Seeking Narwal
a monthly saga
posted on the 7th of each month - until the narwal is found
details here

~*~

The search continues for the narwal and stolen treasure...

The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed body of water on Earth by area, variously classed as the world's largest lake or a full-fledged sea.

The Caspian Sea holds great numbers of sturgeon, which yield eggs that are processed into caviar. -per wikipedia

~*~

The infamous Narwal lowers the spyglass with a sigh of relief... for now. He does not see signs of the Rusty Dagger but he knows she's close. She continues to follow him relentlessly and may well catch him in the seventh sea... if he is not careful.

The captain of the Rusty Dagger seeks him obsessively.

The curse of the gem drives her.

She is mad.

Mad for the gem.

Mad for him.

But the Narwal knows that she can have neither until the curse is broken.

It has been his passion this past six months to find a way to free her.

Free her soul.

Farewell to the Balclutha this day. When the Narwal disembarks, he will be bound for the Caspian Sea.

There is a portal there that leads to the Iron Seas which holds the answer he seeks.

~*~

~*~

Meanwhile exhaustion finally catchs up with Captain Vix. She catnaps in a hammock below top deck as the crew scurry about per usual. All the while, keeping an eye out for the Balclutha.

Seeking Narwal: Sixth Sea

Seeking Narwal
a monthly saga
posted on the 7th of each month - until the narwal is found
details here

~*~

The search continues for the narwal and stolen treasure...

Our Capt Vix is in a temper most foul.

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

She is presently on her way to a tavern, Esme's Cove, on that Persian Gulf island straight ahead.

She seeks information...

Specifically, the whereabouts of a certain Narwal.

Just who is this Narwal that has our captain searching the seven seas for?

Our last voyage found us in hot pursuit of The Flying Elephant. When the Rusty Dagger met The Flying Elephant in port at Goa, India it was too late.

Narwal escapes yet again!

Apparently, the Narwal was indeed aboard The Flying Elephant upon leaving Triton's Tavern in May. But, midway he boarded the Balclutha bound for another desitination.

The destination unknown to the captain and crew of The Flying Elephant. Well, save for one. A crew member who disembarked from The Flying Elephant a couple days ago and was bound for Esme's Cove.

Hence, the current location of the Rusty Dagger in the sixth of the seven seas - the Persian Gulf.

Which begs the question again, who is this rascal Narwal who seems to dodge our captain's clutches?

Meanwhile the Rusty Dagger and loyal crew are anchored offshore from the island to await the return of our captain.

To escape the heat and enjoy the free time, some crew members dive into the water and discover the wonders of the many coral reefs below.

~*~

The Persian Gulf, in Southwest Asia, is an extension of the Indian Ocean located between Iran (formerly called Persia) and the Arabian Peninsula.

The Persian Gulf has many good fishing grounds, extensive coral reefs, and abundant pearl oysters...-per wikipedia

Seeking Narwal: Fifth Sea

Seeking Narwal

details here

~*~

The search continues for the narwal and stolen treasure...

Fresh from pirate adventures during the ...and a bottle o'rum event The Rusty Dagger has left the Red Sea and now navigates through the Arabian Sea.

From trusted sources at Triton's Tavern, the narwal is on board the spice merchant ship The Flying Elephant which is bound for Goa, India.

The Arabian Sea is a region of the Indian Ocean bounded on the east by India, on the north by Pakistan and Iran, on the west by the Arabian Peninsula, on the south, approximately, by a line between Cape Guardafui in northeastern Somalia and Kanyakumari in India. Some of the ancient names of this body of water include Sindhu Sagar (meaning "Sea of Sindh" in Sanskrit) and Erythraean Sea. -per wikipedia

Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters
by Jane Austen and Ben H. Winters

Description from the amazon:
From the publisher of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies comes a new tale of romance, heartbreak, and tentacled mayhem.

Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters expands the original text of the beloved Jane Austen novel with all-new scenes of giant lobsters, rampaging octopi, two-headed sea serpents, and other biological monstrosities.

As our story opens, the Dashwood sisters are evicted from their childhood home and sent to live on a mysterious island full of savage creatures and dark secrets. While sensible Elinor falls in love with Edward Ferrars, her romantic sister Marianne is courted by both the handsome Willoughby and the hideous man-monster Colonel Brandon.

Can the Dashwood sisters triumph over meddlesome matriarchs and unscrupulous rogues to find true love? Or will they fall prey to the tentacles that are forever snapping at their heels?

This masterful portrait of Regency England blends Jane Austen’s biting social commentary with ultraviolent depictions of sea monsters biting. It’s survival of the fittest—and only the swiftest swimmers will find true love!
