This fast-paced action adventure tale is set in a zombified world of favorite fairy tale characters that pulls you in and down the hole to Wonderland.

High functioning royal princess zombies accompany the main character, Caitlin, as she navigates a Wonderland adventure.

The usual groaning, grunting and hungry shambling zombies also mingle with "partial" zombies".

The mashup of fairy tales and zombies is so cute. I look forward to more encounters of characters from other fairy tales.

Like all fairy tales, this story also has an underlying message that hits home just right.

My two-bits:

This is a gem. I would love to see a print version of it as the colors are so warm and whimsical to behold.

I read this on my black/white kindle and did not get the full effect. But looking online at the video clips (here) is a treat.

The story is fairy tale-ish and a cute one with longing and love and some things in between.

The day dragged on at an irritatingly slow pace as I tried and failed to avoid Annabel and her cheerleader zombies.

Nice romp in Neverland with Peter Pan and Wendy's great granddaughter, Wynn.

Interesting reveal (to me) is made in regards to the relationship between Captain Hook and Wendy.

Romance is in the forefront in this tale with Peter Pan.

My two-bits:

The mixed feelings I had after reading book one in this series carries over into how I feel about book two.

While I really do not want to like Dinah, because of what she turns out to be (per the mad character in Alice in Wonderland), I am being swayed. It will be interesting to see which way I will go after reading the next book in the series.

This story takes place away from the Wonderland palace and continues to show the darker side of Wonderland. Dinah meets creatures and others that live beyond the palace walls that enlighten her perspective on her world.

I liked how Dinah starts to transform into a warrior of sorts. Looking forward to seeing her in combat action.

Loved how we get the back story of Cheshire and how and who alliances are being formed with.

My two-bits:

Wonderful blend of adventure and romance with a fairy tale like vibe.

I am reading backwards. I have not read book one and now have it on my tbr pile as I really enjoyed falling into this world and want to know more.

I was taken at the start with the character, Duncan and his swoon-inducing Scottish accent.

side note: I have become biased after reading Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series (waaaay back when). I fell in love with Scotland (have yet to visit there) and things related.

Being the second in the series, the story goes into what happens after the happily ever after comes about - as one of the characters from book one is now a Queen and has nabbed her Prince Charming.

What made this story fun to read was that there were two spunky female protagonists to follow along. Both with equally interesting personalities, love interests and story lines.

Loved the banter between both sets of couples and found myself chuckling here and there throughout the read.

About the authors:

Carey Corp lives in the metropolitan Midwest with her loveable yet out-of-control family. Carey wrote her first book at the age of seven, and currently begins each morning consuming copious amounts of coffee while weaving stories that capture her exhaustive imagination.

She harbors a voracious passion (in no consistent order) for mohawks, Italy, musical theater, chocolate, and Jane Austen.

My two-bits:

I have mixed feelings for this. Being that this is an origin story for the Queen of Hearts, Dinah, from Alice in Wonderland, it was hard to like her character. She does not come across as a love-to-hate characters either. But then, this could be because she really is a baddie which we will see her transform into in book 2.

A bit of Dinah's rocky relationship with her father, the King of Hearts, brewing hatred for half-sister, Vittiore, and affection for brother, Mad Hatter are explored to explain some of her background. Ack! she even has a love interest.

The story ends in a kind of cliffhanger as a mysterious person comes into play with helping Dinah along her path to being Queen.

As this is a dark story of Wonderland, I missed the light-hearted whimsical Wonderland point-of-view. But again, this is about the Queen of Hearts, the crazy loon who wanted to off everyone's heads.
