My two-bits:
Although the 3rd book in a series, this books works alright as a standalone.
This family saga tells the story from the viewpoint of two family members, a father and daughter.
Set in the 1920s, the customs and signs of the times are present. The family is Italian and many scenes include delicious sounding meals with lots of yummy dishes described.
The experiences of an independent female protagonist, Marcella, makes her endearing and fun to follow along her journey in life.
