HAPPY THINGS:

1. Pumpkin Almond Croissant from b.patisserie

2. Halloween themed puzzles. I ended up ordering Holly Carden's illustrated Edgar Allan Poe's Macabre Mansion and H.H. Holmes Murder Castle (details). Both are 1,000 pieces and have the added book theme vibe. With the Poe puzzle, I plan to listen to His Hideous Heart: 13 of Edgar Allan Poe's Most Unsettling Tales Reimagined edited by Dahlia Adler. With the H.H. Holmes, I will listen to a 3-episode series (episodes, 200-202) covering serial killer, H.H. Holmes, hosted by The Last Podcast on the Left. The puzzle creation was inspired by The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America by Erik Larson which I read awhile ago.

3. Finding a leafy owl among the leaves.

AND watched: on Netflix

Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)
Director: Dean Parisot
Screenplay: Judd Apatow, Nicholas Stoller
Based on book by: Gerald Gaiser Stars: Alec Baldwin, Jim Carrey, Téa Leoni
Comedy, Crime | imdb | my rating: 3

When an affluent couple lose all their money following a series of blunders, they turn to a life of crime to make ends meet.

FEW funny bits Jim Carrey style that ends well and good.

The Highwaymen (2019)
Director: John Lee Hancock
Writer: John Fusco
Stars: Woody Harrelson, Kevin Costner, Kathy Bates
Biography, Crime, Drama | imdb | my rating: 3

The untold true story of the legendary detectives who brought down Bonnie and Clyde.

INTERESTING historical bit on Texas Rangers of the past.

Save Yourselves! (2020)
Director/Writers: Alex Huston Fischer, Eleanor Wilson
Stars: Sunita Mani, John Reynolds, Ben Sinclair
Comedy, Sci-Fi | imdb | my rating: 4

A young Brooklyn couple heads to an upstate cabin to unplug from their phones and reconnect with each other. Blissfully unaware of their surroundings, they are left to their own devices as the planet falls under attack.

WHAT if? Begs the question of do you have your priorities straight? Beware the poof. Scene with a jigsaw puzzle :-)

I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Director/Writer: Charlie Kaufman
Based on book by: Iain Reid
Stars: Jesse Plemons, Jessie Buckley, Toni Collette
Drama, Thriller | imdb | my rating: 4

Full of misgivings, a young woman travels with her new boyfriend to his parents' secluded farm. Upon arriving, she comes to question everything she thought she knew about him, and herself.

YEAH, not crazy about the ending. One of those "what the..." films. But, interested me enough to want to go and read the book version for more. As I'm on the wait list for it, I picked up another horror story, Foe, by Iain Reid.
