Zombie movies pt 2

Warm Bodies (2013)
Director/Screenplay: Jonathan Levine
Starring: Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, John Malkovich
-Comedy, Horror, Romance, Zombies | imdb | my rating: 5

After a highly unusual zombie saves a still-living girl from an attack, the two form a relationship that sets in motion events that might transform the entire lifeless world.

=====> Touching zombie story done well with references to the classic Romeo and Juliet. Leaves you with hope for the zombies!

BASED on this book...

Warm Bodies
by Isaac Marion
Amazon | Goodreads

R is having a no-life crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he is a little different from his fellow Dead. He may occasionally eat people, but he’d rather be riding abandoned airport escalators, listening to Sinatra in the cozy 747 he calls home, or collecting souvenirs from the ruins of civilization.

And then he meets a girl.

First as his captive, then his reluctant house guest, Julie is a blast of living color in R’s gray landscape, and something inside him begins to bloom. He doesn’t want to eat this girl—although she looks delicious—he wants to protect her. But their unlikely bond will cause ripples they can’t imagine, and their hopeless world won’t change without a fight.

=====> So now, I really want to read this before book 2 comes out February 2017.

Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Director: Edgar Wright
Writers: Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg
Starring: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield
-Comedy, Horror, Zombies | imdb | my rating: 5

A man decides to turn his moribund life around by winning back his ex-girlfriend, reconciling his relationship with his mother, and dealing with an entire community that has returned from the dead to eat the living.

=====> This was a third re-watch. And again, I enjoyed it as much as the first time. Loved the friendship theme. Since my last viewing, I have seen The Office (UK) tv series and appreciated the inside joke of seeing Martin Freeman and Lucy Davis in the scene they appear together.

* part of zombie month (schedule)

  1. I still have not seen either of these movies. I guess I need to have a zombie movie night :)

  2. What a coincidence! I just snagged Warm Bodies for my next YA read. :) Glad the movie was fun.

  3. Shaun of the Dead is my favorite zombie flick!
