Secret Sister Project
February - July 2016
hosted by Brittany (@bookaddictguide), Amy (@trippingbooks), and Alyssa (@withthebanned)
(details)
- signups start January 16 (here)

The Secret Sister project is essentially a cheer club. Think Secret Santa but all year round (in 6 month intervals) with less emphasis on big presents, and more thoughtful notes, cards, small somethings sent just to let your secret sister know that you are thinking about her!

AND watched: in theatre

Star Wars (2015)
The Force Awakens
Director: J.J. Abrams
Writer: Lawrence Kasdan, J.J. Abrams, Michael Arndt
Based on characters by: George Lucas
Starring: Daisy Ridley as
John Boyega as Finn
Adam Driver as Kylo Ren

-Action, Adventure, Fantasy | imdb | my rating: 5

Three decades after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, a new threat arises. The First Order attempts to rule the galaxy and only a ragtag group of heroes can stop them, along with the help of the Resistance.

=====> Some of the old, some new and twists. Loved it. Inkeeping with the Star Wars world we love.

Joy (2015)
Director: David O. Russell
Writer: David O. Russell and Annie Mumolo
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence as Joy
Robert De Niro as Rudy
Bradley Cooper as Neil Walker
-Drama | imdb | my rating: 4

Joy is the story of the title character, who rose to become founder and matriarch of a powerful family business dynasty.

=====> Interesting background history about the success story of Joy Mangano. The story and person was totally new to me as I do not watch QVC or HSN tv shows. side note: I wanted to see more Bradley Cooper.

AND watched: on DVD

Timer (2009)
Director: Jac Schaeffer
Writer: Jac Schaeffer
Starring: Emma Caulfield as Oona O'Leary
John Patrick Amedori as Mikey Evers
-Comedy, Drama | imdb | my rating: 4.5

If a clock could count down to the moment you meet your soul mate, would you want to know?

=====> Definitely one that sparks thought provoking conversations (especially with gal friends).

AND binge watching: via Netflix

K-Pop the Ultimate Audition (2012)
tv series, season one
Director: Jung-pyo Lee
Writer: Sun-Hee Moon
Starring: Go Eun Ah, Park Yoo Hwan
-Korean comedy, drama | imdb | my rating: 5

A romantic drama about tomboy Ji Seung Yeon who decides to dress up as a boy in order to enter the boy band, M2 Junior.

=====> This story has an awesome blend of behind the scenes into the making of K-Pop bands and romance.

After watching Secret Garden, I have have fallen for Korean dramas and plan on watching more in the coming year. It will be the year of sentimental syrupy cute love stuff.

  1. I loved The Force Awakens, too, and want to see Joy (even though I'm also not familiar with the actual woman). Yay for BEA! I'm dying to go sometime. I bet your counting the minutes. Happy New Year!

  2. I loved the original Star Wars trilogy but was not impressed by the second trilogy. Kinda finding it hard to get excited about more films! I suppose I'll see it on dvd eventually though.

  6. The superhero book looks fun.

Yay for BEA. I hope you have a good time. People who fly tell me that its a good idea to ship their books home from the convention instead of trying to pack them and to bring a massive tote to hold everything.

I got to see the new Star Wars, too. It was good though I had several deja vu moments. Look forward to seeing where it goes from here.
